Sindress is the goddess of fire, primarily known in the world of Ohm. The spirit of fire flows through her and erupts in a being of incredible passion. She breathes life into the world and just as quickly takes it way, flickering but never being truly extinguished. She has been credited for being responsible for the creation of the world and just as often predicted as the means of its destruction.
The people of the world worship her for many reasons. Her most basic and precious domain is fire, and this element is always part of her temples and rites. Barbarian tribes and those in particularly poor communities sometimes come to worship this aspect of her alone, recognizing the need for flames to keep them alive from day to day.
Those in more civilized areas generally view her as the goddess of passion, and worship her as the inspiring and protecting force through man's most important moments. People from all walks of life look to her powers over love, wether it to be to gain the favor of one's own affection or to protect a women through childbirth. Sindress herself is known to be one of the most promiscuous gods, siring children not only amongst the gods, but with powerful mortals. Many a legend about heroes of unknown proportions have been attributed to one of Sindress' fiery trists.
The other aspect of passion that mortal flock to Sindress for is war. The opposite end of the spectrum sees general, soldier and thief alike worshipping the goddess for strength in battle and victory for their nation over others. Sindress' war priests preach that is not as important to be on the winning side of the battle as it is to fight as if it was important. That is to say that the skill and passion of the soldiers within the battle, the beauty of the battle itself, is the greatest and most important part of war. This has put her at odds with other more lawful gods of strength and battle, and sometimes puts worshipping Sindress during times of peace out of favor. A common saying is "Those who seek war when the enemy is not at your doorstep, really seek the bed of the goddess."
Her least popular aspect is that as the goddess of illusion and trickery. Certainly light often plays a large part in illusion, and what is flame if not the light of the world. As practical as that may be, this domain is also attributed to one of Sindress' earliest tales. It is said, that when there were only gods and demons, and no man walked the earth that Sindress pulled the greatest trick on the gods. She forced the goddess of life and the goddess of death, two sisters, to fall in love. It was this union that allowed mortal man the proper balance to come into this world.
Sindress often appears as a beautiful woman in full battle regalia, with hair made of flames. Her armor is always sleek and form fitting, flattering to both her friends and enemies. Her age and race varies, but is most often depicted with youth and fair skin.
