Whaiting for D&D Next to finish playtest is as much fun as watching grass grow! Too many unknowns about it. In the meantime, I have revisited Spelljammer on the web. I didn't know there was a 3e community. I actually advanced the time line to 4E to match 9O+ year boost in Forgotten Realms, so the Second Inhuman wars had recently ended with no clear winner and a rise in humans a a intergallactic player with new weopons and exotic shipbuilding material. I think it is cool that Forgotten Realms is the default world since it fits into my game so well when ever 5e is ready for the public.
