    synDCon II Feedback: Event Types

We're very proud of the improvements we made going from synDCon 2010 to synDCon II: Part Deux, but we know we can do better. Please provide your feedback on this thread's topic. Don't be afraid to tell us what we did wrong -- we want to improve -- but don't forget to tell us what we did right -- we don't want to change that.

Please note: This is a polite forum. Criticism is greatly encouraged. Flaming will be met with violent spell-casting.

This year we continued our success in offering Living Forgotten Realms and Pathfinder Society games. We also added three new living campaigns, Living Divine, Ashes of Athas, and our new synDCon living campaign (name TBD). We lost our Heroes of Rokugan (Legend of the Five Rings) component this year, but we had a strong showing for Savage Worlds. While it's clear we'd like to get HoR back, what else is missing? If there are any local organized groups that play a game or game system that's missing, do you have their contact information?

I thought it was excellent, guys! I liked the breadth, especially seeing people playing Shadowrun, Eclipse Phase, Savage Worlds... these are all games I love and that I feel provide a rich experience (and much perspective) to any D&D player.

As someone that could not register early, it was interesting to see many filled tables. I wonder if it is possible for organizers to watch the schedule and add more tables as some fill up? We had to turn away people for Ashes and I could not sign up for Eclipse Phase or Savage Worlds. This isn't a big deal, just something I noticed.

    Thanks!

There's a dilemma that I've seen at every con--how many tables do you staff? Is there a way to predict the number of players who don't pre-register? We ran into that with Pathfinder Society--a few people were unhappy that there were no tables for them. As a GM, it's very difficult to adjust on the fly. Obviously, the ideal situation is for everyone to pre-register. However, that's not realistic.

I've pondered ways to adapt for this: hold a 6th spot at a table for a GM who is "on call" in the event another table is needed...just plan for one extra table for every 3 that are pre-registered...I don't have a great answer, but it requires an additional level of flexibility for the GMs who are already working hard to prepare and run sessions.

Beyond that, I'd love to see some Star Wars Saga games! Oh yeah, and maybe some slot 0 games on Thursday afternoon evening for hard-working GMs!
