synDCon II: Organization of Our Events Schedule

We're very proud of the improvements we made going from synDCon 2010 to synDCon II: Part Deux, but we know we can do better. Please provide your feedback on this thread's topic. Don't be afraid to tell us what we did wrong -- we want to improve -- but don't forget to tell us what we did right -- we don't want to change that.

Please note: This is a polite forum. Criticism is greatly encouraged. Flaming will be met with violent spell-casting.

This year we went with a staggered slot schedule. That is, rather than have all gaming events start at 8am, 1pm, and 7pm, we had them starting at various times during the day. This way, if you decided to spend an hour or two attending a seminar, visiting the exhibitor room, or sleeping in, you could do so and not have to sit around for three hours waiting for the next game to start. This also provided us with greater flexibility inserting last-minute additions to our schedule, and made it less of a problem for you, the gamer, if your scheduled event was canceled.

Any comments on our schedule? Did this work for you, or did you prefer the schedule from synDCon 2010? Do you have any other suggestions with respect to how we organized our schedule?

    SynDCon 2011

    Hi,

I went to the con and had a great time. Let me take a moment and pat you on the back for such a good job.

you asked for areas for improvement so here you go.

1)I didn't care for the gaming in the big rooms with 6 other games going on. It was hard to hear stuff at my table, but I know you prob cant change that. so no worries.

    2) When reg for games online, I wasn't sure if i needed to bring a character or if one would be provided. Easily fixed with a line in the game description.

    3) It would have been nice to have a few more retailers. but I'm sure as you grow so will the amount of retailers. (again, not much you could do about that.)

    4) I read an article that mentioned DM's trying to kill us players and I wanted to comment on that. I played in a handful of games and found this to be somewhat true, but It seemed to be good natured and in one case, enjoyable.

so, all in all, not really anything to complain about. Like I said, you did a great job and were very efficient, and put on an enjoyable Con. Thank you for your hard work and all the time you put into it.

    Schedule

I like the staggered schedule in general.

For Pathfinder Society games, however, it was rather dense. The sessions are supposed to last 5 hours, leaving little time for late players, marshaling tables, etc. This is probably more an issue for PFS coordinators, however.

    2012

Can anyone tell me when the 2012 event will be?
The website has been down for a long time and is no help. :-(
