Smile 4e Battlemind or Jedi Knight?

I am a huge Starwars fan and have always tried to link it to D&D in some way. I also have The StarWars Saga edition and always played as a jedi or with some modifications a SithLord. Looking through the 4e players handbook 3, I came across the Battlemind. Looking at his powers and comparing them to the Jedi's talents and force powers, I found huge simularities between the two seperate source materials. Basically, the Battlemind is the D&D Jedi or the closest thing to one.

To make the Battlemind a true Jedi, you will need to multiclass or be a hybrid of the Psion. Both the Psion and Jedi have certain telekinetic and telepathic abilities that the Battlemind seems to lack. Perhaps adding a new build or paragon path to the Battlemind would help. The last aspect of a Jedi is the lightsaber. In StarWars the lightsaber is forced energy through a shaft by crystals. The 4e prototype could use the same "psionic" crystals to form a blade of any energy type. It can also be turned on and off by using power points. However you create a "Jedi" from a Battlemind, it is better than creating a new class from the ground up.

Battlemind would work great for the Jedi. Same with the Swordmage. Although, 4e has a lot of strength in that you can reflavor just about any class.

The best D&D class I have seen that matches the concept of the Star Wars Jedi Knight/Sith Lord is the BLADESINGER, from the Neverwinter Campaign Guide. Kind of a more controller-esque swordmage. You might check that one out.

    Cheers
