no way, the swordmage is fine where it is. Wizards of the Cost kind of dropped the ball early on and never fixed thier error. In the martial power source there is no controller. I have been hoping for a martial or a melee controller since the arrival of PHB2. Well with bladesinger there is another melee controller (I think predator druid was the 1st), but alas it is an Arcane source melee controller. Unfortunately its arcane, but i think it is alright. I made one to see how they worked, and I think its okay still. I would multi-class swordmage for more defense probably. I am not sure if i would play one or not, as I am not a big fan of the melee basic 4.5 stuff, but to each their own.

Here is the WoTC question of the week. Now that the Neverwinter CS has been out for a month, how much of it has been errata so far? My least favorite thing about 4E is usually when I purchase a hard copy book, the information in it is irrelevant in someway in about 1 or 2 weeks, and I don't usually get the books at release, so I know I am buying an inferior product most of the time. My favorite example is purchasing the arcane power book, taking it home, making a guy, and then going to play only to find out that the feats I chose had been errata'd and my character out of the book i bought was illegal.

any wagers on how long before Neverwinter CS is errata'd to death or to 4.5 standards?

I'll bet it has happened already and i just don't know about it.

It's preference. I wanted a class that would fight in melee but could cast wizard spells on the side (without the crazy Feat tax and attributes all over the place). The Bladesinger fits that for me and is what I had hoped the Swordmage would have been at first.

I have to agree here, I really dig the Bladesinger over the Sword Mage. Sure it is preference but the way they go about with the use of the at-wills is pretty cool. I do not think I have seen anyone truly play it as well as it can be played.

Even when I describe it to some people who are playing it at my table they look at me funny and proceed to wonder why it is the way it is as they magic missile everything they see. Wizards in Chain is what I call that player.

We are going into Neverwinter Campaign in a couple of weeks and I was hoping one of the group would play this to complement my Bravura Warlord Noble handing out basic attacks. I did get a Slayer which lives off of the basic attack as well but this is so much more interesting and iconic. How many fighter/wizards have been monkeyed with in previous editions trying to accomplish what I believe is well represented with this class. A solid strike with an effect. Very simple and accomplishing what only Shocking Grasp did well before. If you don't like it the good thing is that there are lots of options to get the job done.

So in my Saturday campaigns I run at the store, I so want one of players to try out a Bladesinger because the warlord in the group would work well with this combo. Right now it is the Warden/Warlord combo but I think the warden shines well as not part of this combo. Especially since the Warden and Bard combo pretty well with the bard adding misdirected note
