Lore is more mutable than mechanics in 4E; the character builder is a facet of the situation, also organised play, and the reduced need to houserule in 4E. Therefore designers probably should give at...
I love the idea of skirmishers, although many of them feel a bit disappointing on the table. One of these days I'll sit down and work out some mechanics for one.
Olidammara. Closest D&D deity to EverQuest's Bristlebane there is.
Was very sad he got dropped in fourth edition.
I'm going to say Orks. Football hooligans in space are hilarious and awesome.
"Orkses are made for FIGHTIN' and WINNIN'!"
Great to hear that you're on better hosting. Who was giving you crappy service previously?
I've a few of the old Gazetteers, and the Hollow World boxset. Very good world-building, although the overall tone of Hollow World wasn't entirely to my taste. I wish that I had the money to buy more...
So what was shown?

Thought I'd stick this here as well as in a comment to SarahDarkMagic's article on the virtual...
I don't think two weeks will be too egregious a reanimation of a thread.

That's Trevor's...
I am seriously looking at getting to GenCon. It's only about a six hour drive from here, and almost entirely Interstate, and by then I should have more than enough leave built up to take Wednesday...
Religion and politics spring readily to mind.
I had a response to this, but Firefox ate it. In summary though:
4E does look weak at the moment with cancelled books and DDI in the middle of a chaotic transition period.
I do think this is...
I really liked the idea of the "also rans" campaign, which ends up with the PCs transcending a pre-ordained fate of mediocrity.
While not entirely Plane Above, there is inspiration to be found in...
The Forgotten Realms I'll admit I never got that interested in for tabletop, but the Neverwinter Nights games have given me a good impression of it; I rather enjoyed collecting the snippets of world...
Sums up my point of view quite nicely.
That's been my opinion since I first looked at it. Once it's integrated with other tools, and can import map images or has a larger selection of tiles, it'll be a killer product.
While I got the box set when it came out, I never bought any of the Immortals level modules; I didn't have the cash to spare at the time--I was only 16--for stuff I didn't think I'd ever run. Shame...
I hope the move goes smoothly!
Out of curiosity, who do you buy hosting from, and what's been your experience with them?
The gaming circle of friends I had back in the UK would talk about three games that we really ought to play sometime, as at least one person had the rules and expansion packs to them. ASL was one of...
I don't think 4EHater has the remotest inkling of the depth of lore that goes into many MMOs. EverQuest (and its sequel), WoW and EVE Online all are excellent examples where the backstory has...
I've seen that referred to quite a bit on Twitter, although I've not taken the time to investigate it. I've heard good things though, and as I've been thinking about running a D&D group at work...
Matt, thanks for the work you do on the site and forums. I know I poked you a bit during the interregnum, but it's a good atmosphere here.
I've kept away from the various organised play events precisely because that's the attitude towards LFR I've seen in a number of places. I certainly wouldn't want to run one.
I'm not as big of a...
I don't like the current online character builder. The interface is a substantial step backwards from the offline one in all ways except search; it's slower than the offline one for me; it is...
