    Default Achievements in D&D

Spend a Healing Stirge: Achievements in D&D

This writer has a good idea. Achievements in D&D. His examples:
Kill an enemy with a power that does not deal damage or ongoing damage.
Kill an enemy with a utility power.
Roll a natural 20 three times in one encounter.
Fall 100 feet and survive (only attainable in Heroic tier)
Knock an enemy off a ledge, cliff, etc., where it dies from fall damage.
Perform an area attack that includes at least 2 friendly targets where you miss every friendly target but hit every enemy target.
Have at least 3 players at the table wearing pop boxes on their heads at the same time.
Miss three attack rolls in a row.
Go an entire game night without taking any damage.
Survive an encounter while wearing armor you are not proficient with.

I am thinking we could do a Loremaster version of these. Making them funny, not easy, and strange.

Trick Dice - Roll three natural 20's in the same encounter (on attacks)
Not Optimal - You deal less than 5 damage to a creature in combat
Long Fight - Combat takes more than 2 hours in real time (Heroic)
The Raven Queen's Master - Roll 3 death saving throws that allow you to spend a surge.

Lets get a master list so we can try and earn them.
(as an aside we should make a cool certs I will print them for our characters)
    Characters:
Zekk Aki - Genasai Taclord Level 9

    Groo "Arcane-SkillMonkey" Fury - Dragonborn Barbarian 14
    Zane - Human Avenger 4

Can anyone think of achievements we could secretly be trying to make at Game Days and Conventions? Even if we just come up with silly ones we can title later.

I'm wondering what boon these achievements would grant. I think they should be more than purely ornamental. For example, perhaps the harder-to-accomplish achievements should give the player back an action point (if they had spent one already). Or would allow them to spend second wind as a minor action (or free action if dwarf). After using the boon, the achievement would become void for the adventure.

Cold as Ice - Roll three successive critical failures on attack rolls (boon: reroll one attack before the end of the encounter)

Such a Disappointment - You make more than one attack in a round and miss with all of them (boon: you get to make a basic attack as a free action) [note: you can only achieve this once in an adventure]

Just a Fleshwound - You take more than your bloodied value in damage from a single attack and do not fall unconscious (boon: spend your healing surge as a minor action, or free action if you are a dwarf)

Dangerous Companion - You deal more damage to allies in an encounter than you do to enemies, including any damage done while dominated (boon: you can spend your second wind and an ally of your choice regains hit points instead of you)

Would be fun to handout a business card sized award, with the name of the award and Loremaster.org. Add in our Loremaster name for new members to the site. Make for a fun DM thing to hand out.

Hopefully you would be able to redeem them for something or else they'll end up as more cruft that builds up in your bag along with certs and dry-erase markers. I'm thinking either in game - as per my boon idea previously - or through Loremaster.

I would be cautious about the latter since Matt still hasn't honored his end of the last SPAM thread competition

I think in game would work. I am thinking anyone not from this site would want the card to join the site anyone who was a member of the site would just hand it back.

I meant to put our name on it just so the person can name us as the person who recommended them (bonus points!)

You know I think that this is a great, and funny idea. I'd like to see this implemented in some fashion at synDCon. I'll check and see how we can implement it.

BTW I particularly like the card below:

You hit like a minion - Free / Encounter
You attack is so gruesomely ineffective that even the untrained troops laugh.
Trigger: Whenever you do less damage than a minion of your Tier (Heroic 5, Paragon 7, Epic 8).

Effect: Your next successful attack against a minion does maximum damage, pushes the target 3 squares, and automatically does minion damage (Heroic 5, Paragon 7, Epic 8) to a single target adjacent to the minion.

Flap your Arms - A player tries to jump over something but instead falls flat. [If they get up and flap their arms they take half damage from the fall]
