Absolutely, its like a completely different world.
No WAY, in fact its better than before, I know everything with just one book.
No Opinion: I am a F _ _ Boy, and love everything Wizards of the Cost does.
Things I have said to my DM:
[When the rest of the party is halfway through the skill challenge after a tough battle and short rest and the DM says, "Erik, you've been really quiet--what do you do?"] "I'm still unconscious, actually."
"We rest until there's a random encounter--need to level before we move on!"
"Oh, my lord! That terribly garish amber amulet sets off your amber eyes so WELL!" (bluff check 34)

One could make the argument that the Realms were ruined the moment Ed signed over the rights to TSR. They really changed it up, adding in settings and everything. And it was changed forever in the wake of the Time of Troubles, and then there was 3e, Which reintroduced the Shades and Bane, really i think they should of shook it up more. And now we got the Spellplague and all that. So really i wouldn't say its ruined, its definitely changed dramatically over the years, but that's one of the things i love about it.
The answer is a resounding yes. In fact, I don't even really consider it the Realms
I was a huge FR guy from the grey box days and lived through many good and not so good twists and turns of the setting but those two horrible books really soured it for me.
Heck, it pretty much soured me on 4e which I was giving a try

and Golarion has a lot of the old FR feel and they support the setting nicely

Not entirely sure you can ruin a setting as large as FR, since even if you dont agree with the changes, there are still plenty of areas that are familiar.
Plus, its an RP setting, if you dont like, rule 0 it and move on. Theres plenty of blank spaces on the map waiting to be filled in so stop griping and use some imagination.
