    Default Gaming Paper

So, I got my first roll of Gaming Paper today (http://www.gamingpaper.com). I was pleased to see that it was as simple as I had imagined; simply a large roll of graph paper that can be used for all of the machinations of my imagination. At just $4 a roll, I was cautiously optimistic about how the product would be, but risking that kind of money was a no brainer. Plus, it is 12 feet (no small amount!)

I am finding that this paper has more utility that I had originally imagined. If one takes care in their creations, you can cut out your entire dungeon, draw all over it, and store it away in simple folders to use again in the future. As well, you can laminate your battle maps to have them last even longer.

This product is good for DMs who want to put something together but don’t want to mess around with dry/wet erase markers (besides, I know I am a terrible line-drawer anyways). Or, those who want to create something more fun than a standard square map.

I will try to get some photos up for everyone to view.

That looks kind of nice, I would love something I can just throw away after drawing something elaborate.

    Thumbs up

If you have to run the same mod several times over, this could be nice. Just draw out what you need and unroll the paper or flip the sheets over or reveal them as necessary. Would also save time if your maps were drawn out ahead of time. I may have to pick some up at GenCon.

This stuff rocks. The more and more I use it, the more ideas I come up with. Also, I got to meet Erik (the owner) at Gen Con. He's a cool, down-to-earth guy with a great product. My only complaint is that I didn't think of it first

Having seen Matt's paper rolls and the easel sheeted 1" grid paper, I may be slightly in favor of the easel pad. The paper rolls had an almost wax paper look to them. Not sure why, but I think I like plain ole paper better.

True, but the only issue I have with easel paper is the price (youch!).

    Default concerned about price?

Run the numbers per square foot:

Gaming Paper is $4 for 30 sq feet, which works out to 13.3 cents/sq foot.

Office Depot's 1 inch ruled easel pads are 27" X 30", or roughly 5.5 sq feet, and contain 50 sheets. That's 275 sq feet for $15.99, which works out to 5.8 cents/sq foot.

And those figures don't include shipping costs, which can be avoided by going to your friendly neighborhood Office Depot.

(And don't even get me started on 1 inch ruled graph paper, which can be had for $2.75 for 500 sheets!)

Gaming Paper may have other qualities to recommend it, but on price alone easel pads win hands down.

Yeah while I like the concept of gaming paper I think I would have preferred something like butcher paper (which is dirt cheep) printed with 1" squares.

Nice idea, a little to pricey for me.

I won't argue with the math. I was unaware that 1" graph paper was so cheap now. But to say it is pricey is a bit much, yes?

120 square feet for $24.00 (includes shipping). Which is $0.077 more than the site Charlie put up. Looking at all the other options, aside from hand drawing grid paper, I'm not sure I understand this one.

I'm no salesman but I already reuse the maps I've drawn. No need to use dry erase anymore with my crappy unstraight lines

The only other difference that I can immediately point out is the glossy top of Gaming Paper- which is resistant to stains- unlike regular paper.
