Thread: RPG Books for the Wounded - February 27th!

I will be heading up to Walter Reed, my old place of residence, to deliver a large amount of donated RPG books. We will meet at my place at 11am and will head up to the Mologne House where many of the wounded are recovering. There we will drop off the books and shake hands as required. I will also be dropping off a little notification for a mini D&D gameday for those up at the hospital. There I intend to set up a game for those interested in playing and will gauge interest in future events. If anyone is willing and able to come up there with me, I am all for it! Besides, you never know how many people want to play

For those who don't know. I was wounded in combat on May 10, 2005. I subsequently spent months as an inpatient at Walter Reed and another year as an outpatient going through rehabilitation from my injuries.

So the details in less words:

Who: Matt James + Loremaster.org supporters
What: RPG Books for the Wounded
Where: Walter Reed Army Medical Center (Washington DC, NW)
When: Saturday, February 27th @ 11am. We will probably get back late afternoon/early evening (depending on many factors)
Why: Because these guys served our country and it is the least we can do. 99% of them are not from the area and many do not have family or friends in the area. This is a chance to give them something fun to do. Trust me, it can get boring very quickly up there...

Also, will they have dice? That's important.

We are not running games on the 6th, rather just getting the books up there. I plan to try to start some games in March/April if possible. Even if it is only once per month.

I will bring all the supplies with me and see if we can get donations from gaming companies for the wounded.

I've received some e-mail. We will only be delivering the books on the 27th (I spoke with Walter Reed AMC about the date and time; please read the original post for the updated date and time). This will be a quick drop-off of the books at the Mologne House. The longest part of the day will be driving up and coming back. I have another engagement that weekend so my time is limited. If you wish to help, I will take it- but no games are going to be ran.

The 27th, after synDCon, works a heck of a lot better for me. I'll be there.
