The gaming circle of friends I had back in the UK would talk about three games that we really ought to play sometime, as at least one person had the rules and expansion packs to them. ASL was one of them.

The problem was that all three games were complex and required significant setup and play time, and we just never were able to get the time for those three games.

I do remember playing a squad-based card game which I want to say was loosely based on the ASL rules, and that was a lot of fun. Even if I did lose a lot.

The other two games that we talked about playing more than we actually played? Star Fleet Battles and its strategic cousin, Federation and Empire.

Finally, is that 50k figure counting individual counters? :P

Nope. I have a library in my home. It does include individual periodicals though... :cool:
