One thing I wondered is why Elminster thinks his descendant are perfect, but everyone else is not? he is, of course, crazy, but that can't explain it all. Storm seems to believe it too, but surely she must be a bit more sensible, knowing that there are other people out there working for the good of the Realms? In fact, some of them are mentioned in Elminster Must Die. I suspect Elminster is growing too scared to trust anyone. But why put such blind faith in his own offspring? Why is she the only possibility? There are other heroes in the Realms (most of us have designed some of them...). It seems to me that Elminster won't get what he really wants - peace of mind - until he realizes this. Gomez

GomezI think it will take more than this, but yes, you're right: there is a certain hubris to the Old Mage regarding his descendants. Why he would think they are more moral, or more pliable, or more powerful, is something only Elminster himself could answer... and it looks as though we'll have to wait and see what happens.
Of course, if one of those descendants turned out to be less than agreeable, well.....

I've long wondered if being a descendent of Elminster means you have some special potential or power, even if it's locked away by default. It could be as simple as "propensity to be ridden by the Old Mage's spirit." :) We haven't yet seen the answer, but I hope we will. Cheers

CheersAhh, but remember the last scene of Elminster's Daughter, wherein we learn that there are many more characters who were descended from the Old Goat of House Aumar than we initially suspected.
