Simple poll today. What is your favorite melee weapon? There are so many to list that I couldn't possibly populate them all (nor would I want to!). If you have your own favorite, let us know what it is, and why.

longsword followed by longbow, followed by a spear, and then a light crossbow and a dagger..

Longbow without a doubt. Not really melee unless I club you over the noggin with it. 4E actually made a bow character viable and it is appreciated.

I like Bastard Swords for some strange reason. Probably because it makes me laugh, and I do laugh when the 10 year old druid keeps asking where the dang hireling got a bastard sword from.

it is wrong but so funny.

why is the Bow in the list? what is Melee about it? did you mean Bo as in Bo/staff?

swords are the best IMO.

I am particularly fond of warhammer, especially dwarven warhammers. They just don't belong in the blunt category ;-p

It is a toss up for me. I tend to favor twin blades or a combo of a blade and bow.

Went for Polearm, particularly the Eku or oar, also known as the fisherman's katana.

it will be Dagger for me not only because its melee and range weapon, its small and easy to hide so u can get it in were weapons not allowed. ;)

Voted sword. Simply because its the superior weapon.

I agree, the sword is iconic. I am fond of the long sword, hand-and-a-half sword (bastard), and rapier. Not so fond of the short sword (the more archaic version of sword) or the large cleaver like swords (falchion). Not sure exactly why, maybe I prefer the historic time periods where those swords were popular. That and I dabbled in foil for a few years back in the day.
